Accessing trains for maintenance can be particularly tricky. Awkward spaces and a range of different specifications and requirements mean getting the right machinery for the job can be difficult and time consuming.
Below are some of our solutions to accessing the carriage roof, a particularly tricky but important place to access:
Roof Guardrail System: Our folding roof guardrail provides a safe, secure environment on the carriage rooftop, enclosed for maximum protection. Drawbridge platforms are used to fill the gap between the access tower and the carriage roof, while two men can easily assemble and operate the folding guardrail system. This is an inexpensive solution to carriage roof access.
Suspended Walkway and Powered Access: Another solution to carriage roof access can be via a suspended walkway, using a mast boom or scissor lift with a modified slide out deck to allow access onto the carriage roof.
Rolling Roof Access System: The rolling roof access gantry gives a safe routine access solution, with adaptability to suit all depot environments and solid construction to withstand the rigours of a maintenance depot.
