Cherry Pickers

Cherry pickers are a particular type of aerial work platform consisting of a bucket or a platform at the end of a hydraulic system. The operator can stand in the bucket to work, and there is often a duplicate set of controls for them to use to position themselves.

If the lifting arm is capable of telescoping to enable the operator to adjust their reach, there are usually automatic safety controls to prevent the work platform tipping over. These articulated boom lifts are useful when operating in tight spaces or when there are obstacles nearby that must be avoided. In these situations a stick boom lift would be difficult or impossible to manoeuvre.
